A short post created for an UPS employee sustainability engagement group intended to spark conversation and dialogue:
Halloween is just around the corner, and shops are gearing up: selling candy, costumes, and decorations. How much are you planning to spend on Halloween this year? Did you know that Americans, as a whole, are estimated to spend $9.1 billion on Halloween-related purchases this year (according to CNBC)? That's just around $86.13 per person.
If you, like me, would prefer to not spend a large chunk of your paycheck preparing for Halloween, you might consider assembling your Halloween costume through thrifting. Not only will your costume be admired by many for its creativity, but it can also be a more sustainable option. You can read more about how to be both more eco-conscious and economical this Halloween here.
Share other ways that you plan on being eco-conscious this Halloween below. Or even better, post a photo of your thrift store find!
